Conclusion
Foxwoods Casino had a monopoly on casino gambling since it opened its doors in 1992 and made billions in profits. However, in 2008 shortly before the recession, they borrowed vast sums of money to finance their expansion and landed up defaulting on debts totalling over 2 billion dollars. The owners of Foxwoods applied for and received millions in federal grants. After much ado, strikes, unionisation, they have come out tops and have one of the world’s most magnificent gambling destinations.
